Welcome to St Augustine's Parish and University Chaplaincy
St. Augustine's is the Roman Catholic community located just south of Manchester City Centre in the heart of a vibrant area busy with University students and local businesses.
St. Augustine's is the third oldest parish in Manchester and the history of St. Augustine's is the history of Catholicism in Manchester. From its foundation through the Irish immigrations and industrial growth of the 19th century, the Manchester blitz of 1940, to the present day, we have been a Christian presence for the people of our great metropolis.
St. Augustine's continues to adapt to the needs of the city and at the dawn of the third millenium, in addition to being a parish St. Augustine’s became the home to the Catholic Chaplaincy for the students and staff of Manchester Metropolitan University and the Royal Northern College of Music. This has led to a lively community with a real mix of people, young and old from all over the world who journey together supporting one another and exploring Christ and the meaning of his message in the modern world.
Our Church is open during the day for anyone to come in and find a place of quiet to encounter the Living God.
We hope this website will give you a flavour of who we are and what we do.
St. Augustine's is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. Registered Charity No. 250037
